I am most impressed at the power of the way Freemasonry communicates deeper truths. I haven’t been initiated in any degree yet, but from my reading I see the connections between the tools of the stonemason and the suitable actions of a man of initiative, integrity and self-determination.

I see the educational value of the symbols that through centuries have communicated with both illiterate and educated men.

Also, the stories that are part of Freemasonry provide meaning to the symbols. I'm thinking of the one about Hiram Abiff and his keeping the private information to himself. In this world of Facebook and Twitter in which people publish to the world their habits and thoughts, it makes sense to keep private things to oneself and those he trusts.

I imagine, though I haven’t yet experienced, the power of ritual recreations of meaningful historical events.
